This is a repository of
Livejournal icons made by
Beth Winter. I make them as a diversion and creative exercise, so I don't aspire to high art with these little miniatures, though I would hope they're aesthetically pleasing. I don't use much in the way of brushes, and my icon text is usually readable. All avatars are 100x100 pixels or smaller, and under 40KB to comply with Livejournal regulations.

Most of my icons are fandom-based, reflecting my current obsessions. Many icons in the Celebrities section resulted from my involvement in online RPGs, where I created icons for my and other people's characters - that's why many of them are plain no-frills bases. Feel free to modify them if you want to, but I'd appreciate credit.
On making icons
Don't e-mail me questions on how to make icons: I use Paint Shop Pro 8, a busload of fonts and a whole lot of guesswork, that's it. Instead, post your questions at
Icon Tutorial - you'll be answered faster and in more depth. And hey, maybe even by Yours Truly, because I'm one of the resident PSP gurus there.
If you want a specific icon, or an existing one altered, I take requests. The more specific your requirements, the better. If it's not a fandom I'm familiar with, I'll require source images, otherwise I'll find my own. Real Life takes precedence from time to time, so expect delays.

The icons are here for the taking.
Telling me you like them enough to take some would be appreciated, but isn't necessary. If you use them on your *journal account, please mention my journal (bwinter@LJ) in either the icon keywords, the icon comments, or the user info on that account.
