Discworld Games
At the moment, there are 4 Discworld computer games available: The Colour of Magic (ZX Spectrum), Discworld I (PC, PSX), Discworld II: Missing Persumed (PC, PSX), Discworld Noir (PC, PSX)
Discworld Noir is the newest one, thought that does mean 1999. You can buy it in second-hand gameshops and the like. I've been very nice and written a walkthrough for it if you're having trouble. Filme noire and very enjoyable, with an original character called Lewton, but reminescent of a later-style Watch adventure. 3D in contrast to the earlier two and a bit worse graphics (640x480 really hurts to see on a 21" monitor), but still very stylish. A particularly nice feature is the outstanding music.
Requirements: P-166 (PII-233 recommended), 32 MB RAM (64 MB recommended), 36 MB of diskspace (200 MB recommended)
Discworld II: Missing Persumed/Mortality came out in December 1996. Same style as Discworld I (Rincewind is thrown into a cross of "Soul Music" and "Moving Pictures" this time), but a little easier puzzles - still, I'm currently writing a walkthrough for it. Gorgeous graphics, wonderful humour. I must say it's one of the best and most entertaining games I've ever played.
Requirements: 486/100 MHz (Pentium 100 recommended), 8 MB RAM, 8 MB diskspace (200 MB recommended), 1/2 of a cognitive brain (full brain recommended)
BUYING: Target Media sells it for £10.00.
Discworld I appeared in April 1995 and was one of the most advanced adventure games of its time, with *shock* speech, animated backgrounds and full color. Even now, it's a stunningly Discworld adventure, and a challenge for even the advance adventure-game player, starring Rincewind in a recreation of "Guards! Guards!". My copy isn't installed at the moment, so instead of my own, if you're stuck use this walkthrough from Game Revolution.
Requirements: This'll run on just about anything currently used. Alright, 386 DX-33 MHz, 4 MB memory, MS-DOS 5.0 minimum :-)
And if you like role-playing games, The Discworld GURPS is for you! This is one of the best additions to the Generic Universal Role-Playing System and according to hearsay, captures the spirit that is Discworld.
Requirements: pencils, paper, players :-)
