This is where the gods play games with the lives of men, on a board which is at one and the same time a simple playing area and the whole world...

Welcome to the new and revamped Discworld Compendium! In the site's sixth year I will continue to provide you with (possibly) up-to-date information and (certainly) fun content about the world of the Disc. Please enjoy browsing through the Compendium.

Pratchett News

The new Children's Discworld book is A Hat Full of Sky, the sequel to The Wee Free Men.

The new mainline Discworld book will be called Going Postal, and probably set at least partially in Ankh-Morpork. It will concern the clacks system. The author posted a quote from it in alt.books.pratchett, in a discussion about Havelock Vetinari:

To quote Moist von Lipwig, in the upcoming Going Postal:

"it's bad enough that he treats you as a puppet, but then he makes you pull your own strings."

And another quote., someone mentioned that they read Pterry books too fast. Pterry said:

To slow this tendency down a bit, Going Postal will have chapters. Proper chapters, made by craftsmen. Chapters such as you don't see much these days.

About this site

The Compendium started as an extra-credit IT project in early 1998 - which means it's already 5 years old. It has gone through three layouts and four locations, but keeps going on strong ^_^ This incarnation has been created with the aid of EditPad Lite and Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8.

If you'd like to be notified of updates to the Compendium, please sign up for the Discworld Compendium mailing list. I promise that it'll be low-volume :-)
